The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Electronic Subscription Model: A Cost-Effective Solution for Large School Districts

This Web Conference will provide an overview of Hazelden’s new offering of an Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Electronic Subscription. This online, cost-effective delivery of the program’s printed guides, CD-ROM resources, and videos is designed for large school districts with 10 or more schools. This Web conference will give an overview of the electronic subscription model, how it works, the costs, related training and ordering process.

Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center psychologist Tracy Stecker, Ph.D. is devoted to helping people get all the care they deserve, want, and need. During this web conference, she'll share her research and clinical experience in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to motivate people with substance abuse or mental health disorders to seek treatment. She—and her team of researchers—use this practice to help people who are suffering from depression, PTSD, and substance abuse take the first step to get the treatment they need. In her presentation, you'll hear about their work with military personnel returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, patients in hospital emergency rooms, and clients who are seen in primary care offices. Most importantly, you'll learn how you can apply this evidence-based model of brief intervention to motivate your clients to get help.
Who should attend: This brief intervention protocol has widespread applications across settings, and can be delivered via telephone or in person. Examples of possible attendees include those who work in primary care facilities, intake call centers, military outlets, school counseling departments, and parole offices.

In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 16 minutes. Approximately 87% of people who complete suicide have a mental disorder. This webcast featured content from the evidence-based public education program, Mental Health First Aid USA. Mental Health First Aid is the initial help given to a person showing symptoms of mental illness or in a mental health crisis until appropriate professional, peer, or family support can be engaged.
Teen Dating Violence, Addressing the New Ohio Law and Evidence-based Solutions That Work
Named for Tina Croucher, an Ohio teen who was murdered by her high school ex-boyfriend, Tina's Law requires Ohio schools to include information about violence in dating relationships in already existing harassment, intimidation, and bullying policies. Schools must also provide staff training on dating violence prevention, and include dating prevention education for students in grades 7 through 12.
At the conclusion of this conference, participant were able to describe what dating violence is and its consequences for students and schools, explain the new Ohio law that requires schools to implement a prevention program, describe the components of the Safe Dates program, and describe the process for obtaining training and program materials to effectively implement the Safe Dates program.
